Mission
The mission of Collegio Lorenzo Valla is to offer accommodation to “capable and deserving students without means [allowing them] to attain the highest level of education” art. 34 of Italian Constitution. Admission to the College is via individual competition. The call for entry to the colleges is available on the website (http://www.edisu.pv.it).
Teaching
Collegio Lorenzo Valla hosts some teaching activity for two Master’s Degrees of the University of Pavia:
- II Level Master in “Nutraceutical Products: Design, Formulation Development, Control and Marketing”
- II Level Master in “Regolatory Affairs – G. Benzi”.
In addition the College offers to his students tutorial activities in Mathematics and other basic subject, carried out primarily by Ph.D. Students and Fellows. English courses are also offered.
Partecipation
Collegio Lorenzo Valla encourages its students to be active participants of the life and management in the College. Every year students elect a College Committee of four students. Life in the College is organized into sport teams and cultural/social clubs, each one having its own president and list of events. Nowadays we are running the following activities in our College: football teams (men and women), basketball teams (men and women), volleyball teams (men and women), dragon boat team, table tennis club, billiards club, chess club, cineforum club, Scottish dances club, Valla Dance Sport Club, College Magazine Club (Il Vallino).
Faculty
The Faculty is composed of some Professors of the University of Pavia who organize educational and cultural activities with our College students. Member of the Faculty are: the Rector of the College, Prof. Stefano Perlini (Medicine), Prof. Stefano Denicolai (Management) and Prof. Guglielmino Cajani (History of Classic).
College Choir (Corale Valla)
The College is home to the activities of “Corale Valla” and LV Gospel Project. Corale Valla, founded in 1987 by college students, is mainly focused on Gospel Music and has achieved great success and awards producing also a large number of records. Nowadays LV Gospel Project is parted from the traditional Corale Valla, which is proposed to College students.
Music Orchestra (Camerata de’ Bardi)
The College is home to the activities of Camerata de’ Bardi, a music orchestra founded in 1989 by College students passionate about music. Overtime Camerata de’ Bardi has become the official "Academic Orchestra of the University of Pavia". It currently includes 30 musicians, mainly students and alumni of the University of Pavia, who typically come from music schools and demonstrate an individual prestigious musical curriculum.
