CONFERENCES on “History and Philosophy in Twentieth-Century Italy”

The series of conferences on History and Philosophy in Twentieth-Century Italy retraces the stages of Italian philosophical reflection by placing them in its precise historical-social context, with the aim of showing their critical potential and the different delays that have characterised, overall, the different philosophical seasons.

If in fact the positivism of the 19th century is linked to a European cultural season, the genesis of neo-idealism is instead rooted in the Belle Époque in which, from the formation of the unitary state, we confront European philosophy and finally descend into the twenty-year dictatorship of fascism.

A dictatorship from which, philosophically speaking, we will only break away thanks to the great era of the Milan School, which was followed by the brief but fruitful era of the Italian neo-Enlightenment.

Its maturation can finally be identified in the emergence of a new and updated critical rationalism. The red file that will connect all the lectures will be the link between philosophical reflection and the history of science in Italy.
