Canteens
What is
This is an important service provided by Pavia EDiSU through directly operated canteens and other contracted canteens. In addition to feeding their minds, students also need to feed their bodies; however, they often eat in an unbalanced way and in too much of a hurry. Those who turn to EDiSU canteens know that they can enjoy a complete, healthy and nutritionally well-balanced meal, being able to choose from a wide assortment of dishes, sitting comfortably in cozy rooms and calmly consuming what they order, with the opportunity to socialize, all at affordable prices.
To whom it is addressed
The food service offered by the Pavia EDiSU is for students enrolled at the University of Pavia, doctoral and postgraduate students at the University of Pavia, students from foreign contracted universities, teaching and non-teaching staff of the University of Pavia and EDiSU, and contracted parties. It is not accessible to private individuals.
Service Features.
In all facilities managed directly by EDiSU, the Authority is committed to providing a service characterized by the variety of menus in order to ensure a healthy and balanced diet, the friendliness of its service staff, and compliance with the set quality standards. In particular, the canteens operated by EDiSU:
- have been applying a food self-control policy since 1997, and provide for monitoring of sanitation standards by the Pavia Health and Hygiene Authorities through inspections. They also make use of additional services to carry out periodic checks, examinations, sampling and hygiene audits;
- ensure the supply of top-quality food and products;
- prepare widely articulated and differentiated weekly menus, including for summer and winter periods, paying attention to a balanced calorie content and good presentation of dishes, while also ensuring appropriate flexibility in meal composition;
- ensure that waiting times are kept within 15 minutes;
- Adopt service behaviors aimed at the pursuit of their users’ satisfaction.
With the exception of scholarship recipients, who are entitled to a free meal, the cost of the meal is differentiated into “brackets,” which depend on the family’s income and asset situation. The rates charged are as follows:
- 1st bracket € 4.00 per meal
- 2nd bracket € 4.50 per meal
- 3rd bracket € 5.00 per meal
- Beyond the 3rd bracket € 6.50 per meal
Food service for students BENEFICIARIES of scholarships
All students benefiting from the a.y. 2025/2026 scholarship enrolled in Pavia-based courses will enjoy a free daily meal from January 1 to December 31, 2026 at EDiSU’s dining facilities, or those affiliated with EDiSU, on open days (scholarship fee provided for cafeteria service).
Scholarship recipients enrolled in degree programs based in cities where there is no catering outlet affiliated with EDiSU (Cremona, Voghera, Vigevano) as well as students enrolled in the “Artificial Intelligence” degree program are entitled to monetary payment of the lump-sum catering fee.
These students, who receive “meal share” money, if they go to a university cafeteria in Pavia will then have to pay for the meal according to their bracket.
Scholarship recipients enrolled in Pavia-based courses who do not use the food service are not entitled to any reimbursement.
Food service for eligible but NOT scholarship recipient students
Students enrolled in the first year of all courses of study, who were found to be eligible but not beneficiaries due to the exhaustion of funds, are eligible from January 1 to December 31, 2026, to enjoy a daily meal at the minimum rate, provided for students belonging to the 1st income bracket, at EDiSU’s dining facilities on open days. If “eligible non-beneficiary” students enrolled in the first year of all courses become “beneficiaries” during the 2025/2026 academic year, the allocation of the free meal until December 31, 2026 will start from the adoption of the act of allocation of the benefit (nothing will be due for reimbursement for the past).
Students, enrolled in years after the first, eligible for the scholarship award who do not receive the benefit due to the exhaustion of available funds, are eligible to enjoy a daily meal free of charge from January 1 to December 31, 2026 at EDiSU’s dining facilities on open days. Eligible non-scholarship students who do not take advantage of the meal service are not entitled to any reimbursement under any circumstances.
All students, both Italian and foreign, enrolled at the University of Pavia can access university canteens.
After finalizing enrollment in the University of Pavia for the current academic year (and possibly applying online for benefits to access the cafeteria at a subsidized rate by the deadline specified in the announcement), the student must:
- Download the EDISU-PAVIA.EAT app to your device/smartphone.
- Log in to your EDiSU Pavia “online student services” restricted area and generate the Qrcode from the EDiSU pavia website (www.edisu.pv.it) you access your “online student services” area via SPID, CIE, university credentials, EDiSU credentials.
- Frame the Qrcode with your device/smartphone to enable the operation of the app and make the association of your profile with the app. At this stage you will be prompted to create a useful pin to confirm the Qrcode generation request.
- Then to access the food service, the student will enter the EDISU-PAVIA.EAT app by typing in his or her pin and from the “cafeteria card” menu will generate and display the Qrcode to be presented at the cashiers just before paying the due amount.
PLEASE NOTE.
1) Each student must have only one device/smartphone enabled. All association and disassociation operations will be recorded for future verification.
2) Enrollment at the University of Pavia is completed after UNIPV registers the payment of the first installment of tuition fees. When this is done, the student will be “active” for UNI PV for the current academic year.
Scholarship recipients enrolled in Pavia-based courses who do not use the food service are not entitled to any reimbursement.
On the other hand, this reimbursement can be requested no later than January 31 of the following calendar year by means of a special online application (available from January of the following calendar year in one’s reserved area “On-line Student Services” – select the academic year in which one was a beneficiary – section “Request for reimbursement of the meal portion of the scholarship”) only by students staying at private colleges with tuition integrated with the meal as well as by students who have spent any periods abroad for study purposes, recognized by the University of Pavia.
Example: I was found to be a scholarship recipient in AY 2026/2027, I will be able to apply for the meal fee reimbursement in January 2028.
Reimbursement will be granted by referring to the value of the “meal share” defined on a lump-sum basis by the Lombardy Region, the value of the meals consumed according to the income bracket and the period of stay abroad/private boarding school stay.
