Founded in 1429 by Cardinal Branda Castiglioni it had a period of fame and enjoyed economic benefits. The decline began in the mid-16th century. In 1803 it was attached to the Ghislieri College. In 1805 the tenements were acquired by the Brugnatelli family who established their residence there. One of the descendants, Prof. Luigi, a chemistry professor at this University for more than 40 years, left his property to the City Council to dispose of for the benefit of the University. In 1954, completely renovated, it was inaugurated as a women’s college, and in 1970, on the initiative of then Rector Professor Malcovati, the adjoining building was purchased and renovated.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
