Post-lunch cafè – fundraising for Iranian students
EDiSU Colleges to the aid of Iranian Students
The difficult situation of the Iranian people and the serious violence aimed at suppressing youth protest cannot leave indifferent the Academic Community, in general, and its student component, in particular.
While expressing solidarity with the many Iranian students who have chosen Pavia and its University for their university studies is certainly a positive first step, giving concrete help to students in economic and human difficulties is even more important. From this point of view, the fundraising effort initiated by the diocesan Caritas and the “No One Saves Himself Alone” Association to support Iranian students in greater difficulty, many of whom are housed at the public colleges of the University of Pavia, is commendable.
The rectors of the public colleges of the University of Pavia adhere to this initiative and invite all the alumni and alumnae of their colleges to participate with a contribution of their own that, whether small or large, represents a sign of caring for peers in need, thus reaffirming the importance of welcoming feelings and behaviors toward the most unfortunate. The invitation is also extended to all of the Colleges’ Ex-Alumni Associations so that in this way help towards the weakest becomes a strengthening bond among generations of young people.
In an increasingly complex, arid and distracted world, it is even more essential that our young people, the future of our country, live the present with attention to the weakest and those in greatest difficulty: the University Colleges of Pavia cannot and should not remain indifferent to such initiatives.
